SEED fans finally get their own set. On the back of Stardust Trails settling into stores, Bandai has revealed the next Extra Booster for the Gundam Card Game — and it is devoted entirely to Mobile Suit Gundam SEED.
The booster is called Cosmic Crisis [EB02], and the first card preview dropped straight from the official Gundam Card Game account: a Legend Rare Destiny Gundam, freshly illustrated, plucked from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny. That is one card, but the bigger news rides alongside it. Bandai confirmed that units from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom Zero — the next SEED film, heading to Japanese theaters January 15, 2027 — will appear in the set too. Cosmic Crisis is not just a greatest-hits collection; it is the first card-game taste of the franchise's next chapter.
Here is what we know so far.
The set at a glance
- Release date: February 26, 2027 in North America, with Japan/Asia on February 27.
- MSRP: $4.99 per pack (US, 12 cards), ¥250 (JP, 6 cards).
- 100 card types plus 3 tokens.
- Rarity split: 45 Common, 21 Uncommon, 15 Rare, 9 Legend Rare, 10 Special, plus the tokens.
Nine Legend Rares is a deep well for a dedicated SEED set, and the Destiny Gundam only confirms the ceiling. With the freedom to stack nine chase LRs, expect speculation on which suits earn the top slots. The Strike Freedom already set a high bar in Freedom Ascension [GD05]; a proper Destiny Gundam headliner suggests Bandai is treating SEED like a flagship line, not a side set.
That exact line of thinking matters here. SEED has had a quiet, steady presence since launch. SEED Strike (ST04) was a day-one starter, and Strike Freedom picked up an LR in the first-anniversary booster. But Cosmic Crisis is the first booster to build its identity around the franchise. If the line's health is measured by card slots, this is SEED's biggest moment in the game yet.
Why this one matters
The release timing does the heavy lifting. SEED Freedom Zero premieres about six weeks before Cosmic Crisis hits shelves. That is close enough that the booster functions as an unofficial tie-in — a way to take the hype from the screen straight to the tabletop. Bandai has done this before with films and shows, and it is a genuinely smart scheduling move: the freshest units on the card list are also the ones players will be buzzing about on release night.
It is also worth remembering where GD06 left the format. Stardust Trails broadened the Universal Century, and the game's trigger system (introduced in that wave) is still settling into the meta. A dedicated SEED booster this spring gives players a clean second direction to build toward — and for anyone who came into the Gundam Card Game through SEED, this is effectively your entry point to go deep.
Bottom line
Cosmic Crisis [EB02] is a straightforward pitch: a full booster built for SEED, led by an LR Destiny Gundam and backed by SEED Freedom Zero units, landing February 26, 2027 at $4.99 a pack. Bandai has hinted at more reveals coming before release, so today's first look is only a fraction of the card list.
For SEED loyalists, this is the set you have been waiting for since the game shipped. Mark the date, and keep an eye out for the next previews.
