The Digimon Card Game is finally coming to your phone. Bandai opened pre-registration for DIGIMON ALYSION on October 27, 2026, and it's live now on the App Store and Google Play in 49 countries and regions. It's free to play, with in-app purchases, and the official release is planned for 2026.
What is Alysion? It's a digital adaptation of the physical Digimon Card Game, which has been running since 2020 — not a simplified spin-off. The app keeps the core systems that define the paper game: the Memory gauge that decides how many actions you get each turn, and the evolution chain that powers up your Digimon as you battle. Your goal is the one you know from the tabletop: break through your opponent's security stack and land the final hit.
The hook is the story. Alysion is set in the world of Digimon Liberator, the free webcomic and light novel running on the official Digimon Card Game site. Newcomer Kanata Hondo learns the rules alongside her best friend Futre, and you follow along, playing through battles with the in-game guide. Both characters are fully voiced — Kanata by Shu Uchida and Futre by Hikari Kubota — which makes the tutorial feel less like homework and more like an episode of the anime.
Beyond the story, there's a real competitive game under the hood. Ranked matches, tournaments, deck building, and a breeding system that fills out a 100-plus-entry Digidex are all in. Alysion also adds cards that only exist in the digital version, plus animated Premium Alt-Art variants of familiar cards. It supports Japanese, English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, and Korean for its interface, with card text in Japanese, English, Simplified Chinese, and Korean.
One thing to know up front: Alysion runs on its own card pool, adding digital-exclusive cards you won't find in the paper game. So don't expect your physical collection to carry over. Think of it as a companion to the tabletop, not a replacement.
Pre-registration comes with rewards. Bandai is giving away bonuses based on how many people sign up before launch:
- 50,000 players: 10 Pack Tickets for BD-01
- 100,000 players: BD1-02 Gemmon
- 150,000 players: BT1-044 MetalGarurumon
- 200,000 players: BT1-025 WarGreymon
Rewards arrive through in-game mail once the app goes live, and the campaign runs until release.
One thing to keep an eye on: the exact launch date. Bandai has only committed to "2026," and it warns that any date shown on store pages is provisional. Some App Store listings currently show December 23, but Bandai says that's not necessarily the real launch day. So don't book your calendar around it yet.
Alysion has been in the works for a while — it was first revealed at Digicon in March 2025, and a worldwide closed beta ran in August 2025. Now it's finally heading to your home screen. If you've been waiting to play the Digimon Card Game on the go, pre-registration is the easiest way to make sure you're ready on day one — and to grab the free packs while you're at it. For the latest, follow the official DIGIMON ALYSION X account and website, where Bandai will post launch details.
